While staying at the Inn, guests have access to other historical rooms and the surrounding grounds. Inside the main house, fresh florals and European antiques make our library, dining room and living room a romantic and intimate setting for guest to unwind, visit or read a book from our ever growing collection.

On the grounds there are many great areas for a morning stroll and private reflection. Walk along the river’s edge, relax in the gazebo or in a rocking chair found on one of our wrap around porches. Lounge in our rustic stone courtyard or tour our quaint Chapel. Escape from the city life on the covered deck overlooking the rushing river or relax outside on one of our hammocks or beautifully situated benches. The river is a great place to catch and release fish. Or just bring a chair down and listen to the relaxing sound of nature as the water rushes over the stones.

The Bridgewater Inn is truly a beautiful historic gem tucked away in a peaceful, yet convenient venue. Such a delight, from the decor, the furnishings, the scenery, the chapel , and the rushing river to the landscaping and intricate details make this a perfect getaway! Furthermore, Michael, the most passionate host, pours his heart and soul in his efforts to excel above and beyond his duty to assure the satisfaction of his guests. I would give it a ten out of five stars!!!

As a historian, I loved the unique, charming features of this 18th century property. We stayed in the king room on the first floor which was large and lovely, the bed very comfortable. I also loved the small cozy library on the property. Michael was an exceptionally friendly and helpful host. The Inn is in a great location to tour the area and Michael gave us great recommendations. Bridgewater was a quiet, relaxing place to stay in the country but near everything we wanted to see. Loved it and will be back- Thanks Michael!

A very cool place for a getaway. You can feel the charm when viewing the house and walking the surrounding grounds. But the charm doesn’t stop when you enter this beautiful home. Each room has unique character, appointed nicely by Michael. I love the location. Private and quiet. My favorite NC lake, Lake James, is just a mile or so away. Tons of hiking opportunities close by.

The property is very relaxing and a great place to come to step back to a time before cell phones and connectivity. My wife and I came for a long weekend to get away from the hectic pace of life with a career and family. We had a wonderful time. Lots to explore and discover on the property. With some great vineyards close by and good restaurants and shops in downtown Morganton we had lots to do. We will definitely come back and will highly recommend to others.

Bridgewater Hall is beautifully designed and comfortable. The staff is kind and considerate. Little touches such as flowers in the room and other amenities make this property special. If you are a Bluegrass fan (as we are) Bridgewater Halls location is central to some of the most authentic and fun venues such as the Drexel Barbershop and the Sims Country Barbecue. We plan to stay at Bridgewater again.

Michael was an excellent host. We thoroughly enjoyed our stay and plan on returning when we can stay longer. With his fantastic sense of design Michael has worked wonders on this beautiful house. All the rooms are tastefully decorated, cozy and quaint, transporting you to an entirely different era. However, they also have modern touches such as gas fireplaces and updated bathrooms for convenience and comfort. Wonderful place to stay, we enjoyed it much more than a hotel! Tip: book directly through their website, the prices are always higher on booking sites.

This quaint bed and breakfast inn was spectacular. The owner, Michael and his sons were very hospitable and made the place feel cozy and right at home. The decor of the whole inn was beautiful. It had a lovely touch of victorian meets country contemporary. The whole property felt safe and with the owner begin near by, nothing felt beyond our reach. I can’t wait to come visit again soon.

Despite arriving late we were welcomed by a nice young man who helped us park and took our bags inside. Entering we found a beautifully restored and decorated house that is clean, comfortable, warm and inviting. The queen bed in the Victorian was especially comfortable. Michael, the owner, is awesome! Will definitely come back when visiting the area.

Circa 1781. Sray at the Gateway to the Mountains in the oldest house in Burke County. A piece of NC history. Lovingly restored and tastfully decorated. Additions to the house include the original country store and a gazebo overlooking the river. So much to do wtihin an hour from here too. Enjoy the restful tranquility of a bygone era in the Bridgewater Hall Historic Inn. You'll be glad you did.
